A leading, innovative and inclusive region
The Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community (IMC) is an association of nineteen municipalities, responsible for ensuring the acting cooperation between municipalities and central administration bodies in the areas of land-use planning, nature conservation, natural resources, civil protection and security.
The 19 Municipalities that make up the Coimbra Region IMC, the largest one in our Country, are aware that there are problems that are better solved on a supramunicipal scale, which enables efficiency and effectiveness gains by always working with the Municipalities.
We cultivate a common strategic vision for the Coimbra Region according to real needs identified, aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the territory, and creating ways to promote harmonious development and to effectively manage available resources.
At the Coimbra Region IMC, we are committed to the effective reinforcement of trust bonds between the partners in this diverse territory, based on territorial cohesion policies, and aiming at asserting a region with a strong and competitive identity.
We are determined to mobilise economic, social, cultural and institutional agents for the continuation of the dialogue that solidified our Strategic Plan, and which we consider fundamental when reflecting on the territory’s future and goals, given that from it hinges the success of projects of a supramunicipal scale that solidify the region’s leading, innovative and inclusive status.
The political assertion of this Intermunicipal Community and region is one of our objectives, combining efforts with the remaining Intermunicipal Communities of the Central Region, following a rationale of constant political coordination efforts in the face of the polarizing effect of metropolitan areas and the challenges posed by the internationalization of our companies and service-providing institutions.
In summary, this is the script of a strategy that provides the foundation for the ultimate dynamic and goal that motivates us day-to-day: assert the Coimbra Region as a Territory with a more entrepreneurial spirit, more social cohesion, more quality of life and more wealth.
