PAMUS - Sustainable Urban Mobility Action Plan

The Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community prepared the Sustainable Urban Mobility Action Plan (PAMUS), according to the Coimbra Region NUTS III [Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics] (19 municipalities), which encourages the implementation of a low carbon strategy for the CR-IMC [Coimbra Region-Intermunicipal Community], namely in urban areas, including the development of sustainable multi-modal urban mobility and relevant adaptation measures.

PAMUS intends to promote "soft modes", focusing on the transport system's sustainability, reflected in modal shift policies based on individual transportation, but also as a complement to public transport. PAMUS goals will be guided by enhancing the efficiency of transport of people and goods, reconverting to cleaner and more efficient modes of transport, ensuring an inclusive transportation and accessibility system, reducing the negative impacts of the transportation system on health and safety, reducing air and noise pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as energy consumption.

The Coimbra Region PAMUS was publicly presented on 19 February 2016.
